Under 14 Division 4

West Coburg Vs Strathmore..

On a cold and cloudy Sunday arvo we arrived at the Brealey Reserve with the expectation that we must win after our first loss last week. We were off to a great start with our first goal within the first 5 minutes by Chris Williams followed by another 2 minutes later by Josh Turville. The boys were playing good footy with loads of tackles, shepherds and marks.

Our onballers were continually driving the ball forward. Going into the first break we had booted a further 4 goals and had a lead of 3 goals.

The 2nd quarter saw our opponents, West Coburg come out firing. They put 4 goals and 5 behinds on the board to our 2 goals. They had most of the play and had our side go into the main break with only 2 points up.

The 3rd quarter was our biggest challenge, could we keep up the momentum? We went into our last break 7 points down.

The 4th quarter was a fantastic contest and the scoreboard changed several times. The boys worked hard at the ball and never gave up. At the final siren we had done the job to come away the winners.

It was encouraging to see that we had so many different goal kickers. This was definitely a team effort.
