Club Basics

As a member of the Strathmore Cricket Club you are required to always present yourself in a professional manner and abide by the high standards already set by previous generations.

  • The captains are responsible at all times for ensuring that play is conducted within the spirit of the game as well as within the laws of cricket.
  • Players & club officials shall not in any time engage in any unbecoming conduct which would bring the game into disrepute.
  • Players & club officials shall at all times accept the umpires decision & must not display any dissent. 
  • Players & club officials shall not use crude or abusive language or make any offensive gestures.
  • Always treat our officials & members, your own team-mates, opposition players & their officials with RESPECT !
  • Be the one who always encourages your team-mates to behave in the right manner.

Training

Training is Tuesday and Thursdays at 6.00pm thru to 7.30pm during daylight savings and 5.00pm thru to 6pm or 6.30pm pre daylight savings. It is important that all players:

  • Read the coaches whiteboard to check for specific training requirements prior to each session.
  • Complete the designated warm up drills prior to the start of training.
  • Be on time.
  • Have thier name marked off as attending with the Net Captain.
  • Wear the appropriate training gear.
  • Mobile Phone is to be turned off.

If you are unable to attend training you must notify the coach or your captain prior to the start of training.

Team Selection

Team selection can be a very emotional issue. Tension is usually greatest at the beginning of the season when teams are chosen. The following processes can make these prickly decision a little more transparent. The Match Committee will select all teams and consist of the Senior Coach and the four captains of the four elevens, any discipline issues will be handled by the Match Committee.
 
Teams will be selected by the following criteria:

  • To select the best team from available Strathmore players
  • Reward performance, attitude and training attendance.
  • Be game specific, ie One day or Two day game.
  • Develop and assist players to play at a higher level.
  • Encourage the development of younger players.
  • To win every game we play !

Club Attire

The Club has arranged for the purchase of cricket attire for its Players we expect all items to be available prior to start of the season.

  • Playing Shirts with Club logo.
  • Training Gear, Shirts, T.ee Shirts, Shorts & Club Jumpers.
  • Cricket Cap, Traditional.
  • A Club Polo shirt is also available and all players must wear after the game

Match Day

  • The Strathmore Training Top MUST be worn with shorts in all warm ups !
  • Only the Traditional Cap or White Floppy hat to be worn with Match Day Shirt.
  • Unless previously organized you must go into the clubrooms for a drink (Beer or Soft Drink) at the end of the match.
  • Awards at the Club will commence at 7.45pm for all Man of the Match Award in each Grade.
